The Paraclimbing Open 2026 is much more than a climbing competition – it’s a celebration for the community!Dutch and international climbers with physical disabilities can meet, share experiences, and compete with (or against) each other during a climbing competition. Our goal is to inspire as many para climbers as possible to join this fun day at Ivy Climbing in Sittard. You’ll find all the details below.

Registration
Registration for the Paraclimbing Open 2026 is now open, and you can register until March 26 at 23:59.
Registration consists of several steps:
- Register via our official competition page in our competition administration system ('WAS').
Don’t have an account in our competition administration system yet? Create an account first (top right of the screen in the WAS). If you don’t have a membership number, you can enter zero (0) in this field. Once you have an account, navigate to the competition page and register for the event.
If you have never been classified before, you may register in the category you expect to be classified in.
- Answer the questions in this form.
- If the form indicates that you need to be classified, complete this national classification form and email the completed and signed form to paraklimmen@nkbv.nl. The deadline for this is March 26, 2026 (preferably earlier).
- Do you have a visual impairment and classification results? Email the results before March 26 to paraklimmen@nkbv.nl.
Classification
If you participated in an IFSC competition in 2025 or have been classified with a review date in 2026 or later already, you do not need to be reclassified for the Paraclimbing Open 2026.
If you have not been classified before, you will need to undergo classification prior to the event. Once registration opens, please sign up according to the described procedure. You will receive information about when your classification will take place later.
During classification, classification specialists will ask questions and perform measurements to complete the process. After classification, you will be placed in the correct category in our competition administration.

Visual Impairment
Do you have a visual impairment? In this case you do not need to be classified by medical classifiers. You will undergo classification by a specialized optometrist instead.
Do you live in the Netherlands?Request a classification as soon as possible via NOC*NSF
using this link. You can do this immediately. After your request, NOC*NSF will contact you for an apointment.
- If the doctor can assess your situation based on documentation, the classification will be funded by NOC*NSF.
- If an eye examination is required, the costs will be for the climber.
Do you live in an other country than the Netherlands?
You will need to arrange a classification in your own country. Contact your coach or climbing federation for advice.
Once registration opens (January 5), you can sign up according to the described procedure. Did you receive your classification results? Please send them to
paraklimmen@nkbv.nl.
Costs
Participation in the Paraclimbing Open costs €20 per person and includes entry to the competition and the shared dinner afterwards.
Privacy
We handle your data with the utmost care. Only one staff member has access to the email address paraklimmen@nkbv.nl, where classification forms are sent. Afterward, the forms are stored in a secure environment accessible only to the same staff member. Once classifications take place, the documents will be shared with the classification doctors. We keep your classification forms for three years and then delete them.
